Seven People Killed In Knife Attack In Borough Market, London

Seven people have been killed in Borough Market, when a group of three drove into pedestrians with a van and started stabbing people. The policed have declared this a terror attack.

The Attack

According to police reports, the attack started at 9:58pm, local time, on Saturday. A van was driven from the North into pedestrians on London Bridge. They reportedly hit several people with the van. The suspects then came out of the van with fake suicide vests and knives in their hands, ran into Borough Market and started stabbing several people. The police and an ambulance were called in at 10:08pm.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were targeting pubs and restaurants. Apparently, some people attempted to fight them away by throwing glasses and chairs at them. Gerard Vowls, one witness, told BBC: “They were running up shouting, ‘This is for Allah.’ They stabbed this girl maybe 10 times, 15 times.”

According to London Ambulance Service, they received over 100 calls for this the attack. When police arrived, they shouted to the public to either “run or hide.”

Within just eight minutes, all three suspected terrorists were shot and killed by the police. Among the 50 “unprecedented” shots the police fired, one citizen was shot and taken to the hospital.

The victims

No one of the 7 victims have been publically named so far. According to Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister, one of them was a Canadian citizen. So far, it has been reported that 48 have been injured in the attack. Five hospitals in London are treating 36 of the injured victims, 21 of which are in critical condition.
