Pregnant Woman Overdoses On Heroin While Pregnant, Charged With Aggravated Assault

Butler, Pennsylvania native Kasey Rose Dischman overdosed on heroin while seven months pregnant, baby in critical condition

30-year-old Kasey Rose Dischman, 7 months pregnant at the time, was discovered unconscious in the bathroom of her apartment early morning on June 23rd by her boyfriend Andrew Lucas, 36. She was promptly rushed to Butler Memorial Hospital.

Dischman went into cardiac arrest, and her daughter was delivered via C-section prematurely. Although Dischman recuperated, her daughter is on life support. Lieutenant Eric Hermick of the Pennsylvania State Police told local reporters: “We have an infant that’s probably not going to survive”.

When Dischman was able to speak to police, she explained that she had discovered a bag of heroin under her couch and injected it in the bathroom, claiming she had not used the drug since her release from jail.

Dischman suffered from a troubled history with drugs and crime

Investigators discovered Dischman had been given a prescription for the anti-overdose medication Narcan following her release from prison, and that she tested positive for both alcohol and opioids.

Dischman’s boyfriend, Andrew Lucas, denied there was any drug activity. The affidavit of the incident states: “Lucas denied any drug activity and related he did not move anything within the scene or attempt to destroy any evidence. Based on my experience, Lucas appeared to be under the influence of drugs.”

Dischman was recently released from the Butler County Prison about a week prior to her overdose. A prison official said: “She has been jailed here ten times since 2006. Most of it is retail thefts stemming from drug use, a couple of burglaries (also from drug use) and possession charges.”

Lucas, father to the infant girl as well as a six-year-old daughter also from Dischman has not been charged with any crime.
