Manchester United and France midfielder, Paul Pogba, has thrown his weight behind embattled goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who is currently receiving a lot of backlashes after he decided not to sign a new contract with AC Milan.
It came as a surprise to fans of AC Milan when news emerged that the 18-year goalkeeper had decided against signing a new contract with the club as it was expected that he would commit his long-term future with the club like Buffon who has spent over 2 decades at Juventus.
However, things took a different turn after the club’s hierarchy met with the player’s agent, Mino Raiola, who later claimed that the player was being bullied by the management at the club and could now leave for free next season.
AC Milan’s Chief Executive Officer, Marco Fassone, revealed that the player’s decision not to extend his contract will set the club back 100 million euros. This decision has led to a serious backlash from fans as Donnarumma was pelted with fake euro notes and Dollarumma chant during Italy’s U21 clash against Denmark.
Paul Pogba’s Backing
However, in spite of the barrage of criticism that Donnarumma has received, Paul Pogba, who is under the guidance of Mino Raiola, took to Twitter to show support for the goalkeeper, stating that he will become the best goalkeeper in the world and deserves respect.
It is suggested that Paul Pogba’s tweet is an indirect invitation to bring Donnarumma to England as Real Madrid are still chasing the signature of David De Gea. While on the other hand it is believed that his tweet is just a show of support for the goalkeeper who is having a hard time with fans of AC Milan that believe he is chasing money rather than career success.
