Stefano Brizzi, who was jailed for murdering a Metropolitan Police officer, and attempted to get rid of the body by dissolving it in acid, and eating some of its flesh, reportedly died in custody on Sunday.
Brizzi had claimed that the death was accidental due to an “S&M sex session gone wrong.”
As confirmed by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), the 51-year-old murderer, Stefano Brizzi, who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of the Metropolitan Police Officer, Gordon Semple, has died in custody on Sunday.
Brizzi and Semple had reportedly met through an online dating app, Grindr. Last November, Brizzi admitted to strangling an officer to death during an S&M sex session, and later tried to dispose the body in an acid bath.
He said that he died when a dog leash Semple was wearing slipped. The jurors didn’t believe his claim and found him guilty of murder by a majority of 10-2.
Brizzi was also accused of trying to eat some parts of the body by cooking it and biting into a rib.
Although Brizzi claimed not to remember doing so, this was confirmed by an expert odontologist in court.
He was caught when neighbors reported smelling a foul odor emanating from his apartment in South London.
When investigators inspected his apartment, they found “globules of flesh floating in the bath,” as well as bags of bones, and lumps of human fat in the oven.
His Death in Prison
The statement by the MoJ said: “HMP Belmarsh prisoner Stefano Brizzi died in custody on Sunday.
“As with all deaths in custody there will be an independent investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.”
According to the MoJ, the cause of death has not yet been investigated, and will be determined after a post mortem examination takes place.
